Controlware optimizes NÜRNBERGER Versicherung's data center network infrastructure with SDN solution
Requirements
As part of the upcoming lifecycle of the network infrastructure in the data center of NÜRNBERGER, the requirement in the areas of streaming services and cloud services the associated topic of data security increasingly came into play. In order to meet the requirements for the planning, procurement and operation of the systems and software, the customer decided to put out to tender the supplies and services for a corresponding data center network. The requirements were procurement, installation, configuration and commissioning (Phase 1) and migration of data center LAN components in two of the customer's data centers (Phase 2) as well as services for hardware and software after commissioning and interconnection (Phase 3).
Services & Solutions
In accordance with the requirements, the Application Centrified Infrastructure (ACI) solution from Cisco was selected. The basis for this SDN solution is, among other things, the modern Nexus 9000 switches and the APICs as the control unit. When selecting the components, Controlware always made sure to use the latest hardware in order to provide the longest possible investment protection with regard to discontinuations by the manufacturer. In terms of design, a MulitPod environment was the most economically and operationally viable solution.
Since we integrated our technical experts already during the preparation of the offer, they were already familiar with many aspects of the NÜRNBERGER environment when they were commissioned and were able to implement all the work without any problems. During this time, a trained project manager was also generally on hand to coordinate the deployment of the technical staff.

NÜRNBERGER's data center network is now based on an SDN solution from Cisco (ACI). This offers significant simplification in management, fault analysis, and application visibility, giving the customer a competitive advantage over other solutions in the market.
The goal of achieving ease of management, flexibility, and availability for the customer's current and future applications and services, as well as the integration and security of virtual environments in the network infrastructure, was successfully achieved.
