Versatile Resilience for IP environments
The new IBS CiRUS 100 delivers innovative and versatile protection for IP Virtual Private Network (VPN) infrastructures and services. Utilizing advanced Always-On technology, IBS CiRUS 100 provides reliable backup not only for the entire link but also for specific applications and load balancing features that ensure flexible traffic distribution and rapid Business Continuity in the event of the CPE router, access line or network failure.
By smoothly integrating with xDSL and wireless WAN (cellular 3G / EVDO) connection services, and through use of transparent insertion techniques, the IBS CiRUS100 provides an independent resilience path for network traffic without need for reconfiguration of existing equipment or network topologies. The IBS CiRUS100 sits between the Local Area Network (LAN) and the Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) router. This connection between IBS CiRUS100 and the router is secured by an Ether-Bypass failure mechanism that maintains the integrity of the network.
IBS CiRUS100 supports the IPSec protocol stack (Tunnel or Transparent mode) and delivers QoS by classifying and prioritising different network traffic. Ideally suited for IP environments such as VPN connectivity and Internet access, IBS CiRUS100 provides several levels of protection for network traffic:
- Backup of the entire link
- Static load balancing of both links
- Backup of specific applications (selective backup)
- Dynamic load balancing.
Support of state of the art security, compression, and Quality of Service (QoS) features provide additional protection while SNMP based Network Management that includes statistical analysis tools guarantee the delivery of up-to-date information concerning the availability and performance of the network.
IBS CiRUS100 is a cost-effective solution that is ideal for a vast array of networking applications and services. Implementation of this versatile resilience concept ensures investment protection by supporting existing connectivity requirements while providing a platform for protection of future applications, services and protocols, typically delivering a very short ROI (Return on Investment) period.
Leased line Backup over ISDN
ISDN Dial Backup is still a crucial necessity for certain public authorities (e.g. in TETRA networks), financial institutions, manufacturing facilities, retailers, airlines and utility companies. Today, these organizations rely heavily on their networks. Legacy network technologies (X25, Frame-Relay, SNA and IP) although declining, are still massively deployed in certain networking environments. A 30-minute downtime that was acceptable in the past could spell public or financial disaster. Quick recovery in the event of a network failure is vital to the success of a company to maintain its profitability and ultimately keep its doors open.
The ISDN Terminal Adapter and backup devices from Controlware are suited by a wide range of networking scenarios. The highly flexible devices support multiple connectivity options (V24, X21, V35, E1) and provide backup data rates from 64 Kbit/s up to 2.048 Mbit/s. The Controlware ISDN devices can be fully integrated into Controlware’s TAXI Manager network Management systems, as well as into open management systems.
The way the ISDN backup works:
- By monitoring the access leased line (local loop) as line replacement
- Regardless the backbone’s protocols (Protocol independent)
- Doesn’t require any topology or routing changes
The Controlware ISDN backup philosophy acts as a “line replacement”. Full bandwidth of the leased line is available as no data is used by the ISDN backup device. The ISDN backup device automatically detects a failure of the leased line using a combination of various call criteria and establishes an alternate connection via ISDN. When a backup is in progress, the leased line continues to be monitored ensuring automatic recovery to the main line when connectivity returns and the leased line is stable.
Metro Fiber Networks
Controlware Fiber Solutions enable Service Providers and Enterprises to cost-effectively extend applications and services for a multitude of topologies across the Metropolitan Area Network (MAN). Protocol and bit rate transparency provides the opportunity to transport all common application protocols while increased scalability is supported through utilizing Time Division (TDM), Wave Division (WDM), Dense Wave Division (DWDM) and Coarse Wave Division (CWDM) Multiplexing technologies. The Fiber Solutions range delivers manageable and highly flexible optical networking solutions that support Service Provider and Enterprise applications such as Storage Area Networks (SAN's), SDH / SONET, IP/Ethernet and Broadcast applications.
