Fiber Saving Application
LastMile WDM systems create virtual fibers which multiply the capacity of any optical fiber.
These systems do not just divide existing capacity, instead they create new bandwidth capacity by a factor of 10-40 !
Intelligent combination of DWDM, CWDM and TDM technologies enable highly scaleable applications with more than 100 channels and over 300Gbit/s capacity.

Disaster Recovery Data Center
High capacity optical multiplexers with interfaces to storage devices can be used. These systems are inserted redundantly onto at least two different fiber path’. These fibers are geographically dispersed for increased reliability.
The LastMile solution combines highest reliability with utmost scalability to ensure the system capacity will grow with the customers demands without imposing constraints.
Additionally, optical backup switches may be used for increased link protection. Precise power level control and intrusion detection features are available for high security applications.

Privat Optical Network
A private optical network based on WDM technology is the most future proof, high performance and secure solution.
Furthermore, multiple wavelengths provide separation between individual agencies yet offers the use of a shared and commonly managed infrastructure. The interconnection point between the agencies are realized and controlled in the overlayed IP or FiberChannel network.

Healthcare Application
High tech medicine required massive data handling capacity. The data often need to be shared between associated hospitals. Pressure to reduce cost, requires sharing of special medical equipment and doctors to be able to access data obtained at another location. Furthermore the number of individual data center can be decreased to save cost. LastMile has implemented several highest availability hospital networks with diverse fiber routes, equipment redundancy and even optical intrusion detection functions to protect sensible data.  
A ring topology interconnects each hospital with redundant links.

Multimode Multiplexing
LastMile provides a unique solution that permits up to 8 optical gigabit channels over up to 2km multimode fiber. Depending on the fiber and capacity needs a longer distance may be possible.
This is a simple applications  but it can save the very high cost of laying new fiber.

Broadcast Application
A DWDM based high capacity digital TV transmission network supports HDTV pre-production workflow and content distribution.
Highest signal quality is maintained at all times as compression is not required during transport between production stages.  
The WDM backbone may be complemented with low cost passive distribution network to enable IPTV services

Fiber Security
LastMile offers several stages of fiber protection including power level measurements to very high accuracy of 1/10 to 1/100 of a dB. Combined with the ability of optical switching hacker attempts can be detected.
With the FiberMonitor such alterations to the fiber can automatically be detected with an amazing accuracy of up to 1.5m on a 30km link.
These new functions are not available with any other WDM supplier.
